A keyboard is an input device, partially modeled after the typewriter keyboard, which uses an arrangement of buttons or keys, which act as mechanical levers or electronic switches.

Choosing the right Keyboard

There are numerous things to look for when purchasing a new keyboard.

Wired or Wireless?

A wired keyboard has a flexible cord that plugs into the computer; it draws its power from the computer itself and needs no batteries. A wireless mouse has no cords and transmits its information to a small receiver that plugs into the computer; wireless keyboards usually take around 4 AA batteries.

PS2 connection or USB2.0 connection?

If your choosing a wired mouse its either a PS/2 or USB 2.0. Most keyboards use the PS2 connection; although more recent keyboards now offer a USB2.0 connection. There is really no difference, other then the PS2 version frees up room for the USB2.0 slot for other devices.
